A Stupid Poem

This post of a stupid poem that came to me the other day at my daughter's swim meet is an interlude in this discussion.  The only tie-in is that my friend Alex sent me a link to Terry Gross's recent interview of Maurice Sendak on NPR, and I was reminded that the work of Sendak, Shel Silverstein and Dr. Seuss all play with the boundaries of Art and Craft in delightful ways that are very human and beautiful and real.  Children can understand the sense in nonsense in the same way that they can understand that magic is taking place as they watch a potter making cups or bowls or mugs.  Call it Art  or Call it Craft, but it is that which it is.  Thanks Alex.  Hope you enjoy the poem:

Wisdom

Pearls of wisdom fall

like pellets from a Goat's behind:

At first austerely, then more clearly,

the nugget arrives in the heart of my mind.

Peace out,

Matt Jones
